Welcome! On the following pages we will hopefully provide you with everything you need to know about our cottages, Torr na Faire (Look Out Hill) and Tulach Ard (High Hillock), and entice you into taking a trip to the lovely island of Jura, where you will be able to soak up the pure hebridean air and indulge yourself in genuine peace and tranquility...
The cottages are recently completed (summer 2010) and are ideally situated above the main village of Craighouse yet only a few minutes walk from the main amenities, ie the island's only shop, hotel and bar, distillery, etc. With dramatic views of Small Isles Bay and beyond to the Knapdale peninsula, they make an ideal base from which to explore the island.
The cottages are built on one level and are identical, although individually furnished and decorated. Each house comprises of one double (kingsize bed) and one twin bedroom, bathroom with over bath shower, fully equipped dining kitchen including fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave. An electric heated airer lets you dry clothes inside when it's raining outside! The large comfortable lounge with satellite TV, radio and hi-fi with ipod dock, looks down onto the village and the bay, while the front door takes you onto a decked area with outdoor furniture, where you can sit with a dram (or a cup of tea) and take in the view!
Fully heated with electric storage heating, and disabled access throughout, the cottages are comfortable and easy.
There is no telephone but mobile reception is not bad as long as your network is vodafone or 02! If you can't live without your PC, the Jura Service Point situated at the northern end of the village (near the school and the doctors surgery) has computers for general use and wi-fi access.

Jura is a paradise for nature lovers, walkers, fishermen and the likes. But whether you are out trying to spot an eagle, climbing the paps or exploring the uninhabited west coast, or fishing for trout in one of the many lochs, please be aware that during the months of July to February there may be deerstalking going on, so it's always worth checking with the local estates (if you think you may be in their area) before you set off.
